Okay, if there are 10 doctors in a practice and they are all Medicare credentialed. But, 1 doctor is constantly billing incorrectly - if he is audited and Medicare decides to take money back, is the provider being audited the only one liable or will it affect the entire practice?

I would imagine a Medicare audit would affect the entire practice if all the doctors are linked by one tax identification number, but I don't know where you would find that in writing. Maybe check CMS' website...

If the physician is part of a group, then Medicare payments go to the group. So, if there is an audit and a problem is found, the group would be responsible to repay.
