Hello! The way I understand it, it is inappropriate to obtain an ABN during an emergency visit due to EMTALA. If this is the case, would it be appropriate to bill these without a GZ modifier when they fail med nec coding checks so that the charges will go through medical review?

If anyone has any concrete guidance from Medicare on this as well, that would be amazing.
