When our patient's go into labor and delivery whether to be delivered or observation they are seen first seen by the house doctor to perform a H&P prior to being seen by our physician. My question is can our doctor's use that H&P and dictate it in there admission note or do they need to do their on H&P and bill for it (with what correct CPT code) with or without a modifier. And, what if she is a consult it becomes a issue of attending vs. supervising MD on who performs the H&P.
Any advice that can be given is greatly appreciated.
