I bill for a specialists group that was exclusive to one hospital (A). They have recently started rotating coverage one doc at a time at a hospital (B) in a neighboring rural county.
When one doc sees a patient at Hospital B, does an H&P and diagnostic workup, then transfers him to Hospital A to another doc in our practice for more extensive treatment, and he does an H&P on admit also, do both H&P's get billed?
Does is matter if they are both on the same day?
I'm thinking it's ok because it's two different facilities and two different doctors, even though they are in the same group.
