We have a combination code 493.20 which is for COPD with asthma.

The patient is on albuterol sulfate.

If COPD is current/history condition and asthma is in PMH, can we still code it as 493.20?

Hi,
we can't take combination code 493.20. Becouse we need some active presence for asthma. if COPD is present in PMH and asthma is present under assessment than we can take combination code 493.20....
 
Are you able to ask the physician for clarification? If not, I would only approve the 496 for COPD.
