We have a practioner who is seeing heart failure patients. They are asking about about the preventive care codes? I dont know a thing about them. These are not appropriate are they? Who is familiar with this? Can you tell me how you report this visit?

thanks!

Theresa,

I don't see how a specialist can bill a preventive code for a problem. Preventives are usually used for annual well visits and usually paid once a year. Medicare does not cover the preventive codes either. Problem visits should be billed as 99201-99215.
