I have a patient that has me going in circles trying to figure out the ICD-9 codes... Here's the story:
Patient had an ACL reconstruction in 2009 and was FINE, until a Reinjury in February 2014 playing basketball. They completely tore the ACL and we are going in to repair it, again.
So, here's my quandry.
844.2, ACL tear since it IS acute
but in the office others are buzzing to add the 996.49, Mechanical complication of an Ortho graft. I'm not sure, since the graft was fine until she injured it.
How are other offices coding the re injury of the ACL repairs?
