Just wondering if someone could help with the following:
Pt was seen in the office had an excison done Path:Malignant Melanoma Pt presents back to office and
gets set up for further exc. due to margins; however
several days after being seen in the office pt is admitted
to the hosp. by another phys for shortness of breath
My doc is now consulted regards to the melanoma
How do I bill for this as I have gotten a denial due to post op global: 99221 WHICH modifier? TIA
Deb, CPC

I would think that if the consult was in regards to the same melanoma that your provider biopsied previously, it would still be considered global. However, I'm curious to other opinions.
