I have a couple of hospitalists who are charging critical care on the same day any rules against this? Any help would be most welcome:confused:

According to WPS Medicare's PHYS022 policy, "More than one physician can provide critical care at another time and be paid if the service meets critical care, is medically necessary, and not duplicative care.
So, yes, two physicians can provide critical care on one pateint, just not at the same time.

Critical care

For critical care, Physicians of the same specialty within the same group practice bill and are paid as though they were a single physician (§30.6.5).
All documented critical care time would be added together and billed appropriately under one physician for that date of service.
