Wiki Help-CRNA billing 62319 and 62311

Hi Group,

CGS Medicare is denying our claims for 62319 and 62311 when billed by a CRNA with CO170, payment denied when billed by this provider type. I called Medicare and was told that there is no documentation to support this denial only an internal edit that states these services are outside the scope of the CRNA license. Has anyone else had this problem with Medicare?

Those codes are not anesthesia codes. They're procedures that require an MD's services that a CRNA isn't qualified to do. That's probably why the claim has been denied.
