Can 250.02 and 25060 be coded on same encounter?

Note

___Patient with diabetes uncontrolled doctor coded 250.02
___Then states patient diabetes due to neuropathy stable coded 250.40 and 357.2.

It was my understanding if patient has diabetes due to neuropathy you code 250.40 or 250.42 if uncontrolled and 357.2 and that covers diabetes and neuropathy. Not 250.00 because it is nolonger just diabetes.


Any help will be appreciated.

The guidelines will help you but you are correct in that your patient cannot have uncomplicated diabetes with complicated diabetes at the same time.
