If you attempt a laser in office but have to discontinue and bill out modifier 53 then reschedule for OP facility a month later how would you bill this with a 78 modifier?-

Once you use the 53 modifier, it separates the procedure from the global period, which opens up the window to allow you to bill the next time the normal way.
For example:
Cataract surgery discontinue due to patients overall health status.
DOS 3/30/2015 CPT 66984.53.LT
Then the patient returns in two weeks to attempt it again, which its now successful:
DOS 4/12/2015 CPT 66984.LT
