I have a general surgeon who did coverage for another general surgeon from a different practice. The surgeon that covered for the other surgeon seen the patient in the hospital on post op day 2, he did a progress note. Can I bill for that surgeon for a subsequent hospital visit if so what modifier should i use?:confused:
 
If he was covering for a surgeon that was under a global period you can't bill anything for E/M services.

When you cover for another provider you have to bill as if you were that provider and in this case that provider would not bill for those services.
