I am in a neurology office. We do routine EEG's. I have a couple of questions.

1. The recording time? Our machine starts recording starting with hook up. Do we include hook up or recording after patient is hooked up?
2. We have a couple of patients that did not get drowsy or go to sleep, we ask them to come in sleep deprived, How do I bill these? There is not a code for awake and alert? What do I do in this situation?
3. One of the patients was a child. The child did not go to sleep and of course wanted to go the bathroom in the middle of the test, which we tried to get the child to hold as long as possible. We got maybe 38 or 39 minutes recording. No sleep or drowsy. Do I use the reduced modifier? State in report what happened.

I appreciate all of your help in this matter.
