I need help with a neurology coding issue. One of my physicians lists out the cranial nerves as per the 97 specialty exam. She documents on each nerve. The other physician does not want to do this. He wants to state - cranial nerves 2-12 intact. Does anyone know of any documentation either through the AMA or CMS that does not allow the exam to be documented this way? I need a reference from one of those sources before addressing this issue again. Thanks so much in advance!
