Hello! I need some opinions on a coding matter please. The practitioner submitted the bill and office notes for a visit he had with a patient. He did an abscess drainage on the glute. He did not do an incision to drain this he stated that it was already "oozing". Can I use 10060? Or should this be coded as an E & M? Please help! Thanks!

Code requires an incision. if it was already open and oozing , and he just squeezed it to help it along, I'd stick with an E/M.

Thank you! That's what I was thinking but, he was wanting a drainage code. Since I found none that were just for a drainage of a skin abscess, I figured I would ask just in case I was missing something! :)
