A maternity pt arrives in active premature labor and gets admitted. She gets transfered to another facility for a higher level of care later that same day before she delivers. How does this get coded? Do I use an admit code and a discharge code with a modifier, or do I use a 99234-6 code? Or am I way off?? Orders were documented that it was an admission. I am confused about admission, documentation of care and transfered to another facility for higher level of care all on the same day. It is the same doctor and the hospitals do not share same records. I looked for a while in older posts, but could not find an answer. I appreciate all the help I can get, thank you, Pam
