This code states 'with use of cardiopulmonary bypass'. However, you are not allowed to code this with codes 33510-33523, and codes 33533-33548. (bypass codes). Ingenix coding tips suggest the procedure should be reported as 33999 (unlisted) when performed with bypass. Why have a code "used with bypass" when you are not allowed to use it? Is there a way around this mess? How do you code a MAZE with bypass? Thanks:confused:
