Our Anesthesiologist prepared a laboring patient for a placement of an epidural for her delivery. The doctor spent 28 minutes preparing her and before the needle could be completely placed, she delivered. Our office would like to bill this service to the patients insurance; however, we do not know how to code this procedure since the epidural was never completed.
Would billing this as a consult be the appropriate code or bill 01967 with a modifer?
