Hi Would someone Please be able to help me code:
Pt came in for a PO wound check from an Incarcerated
hernia repair. Pt has an abd.wall abscess which Dr. does
an I & D. Pt is still in the post op global period and I am just not sure which Modifier to use as this was done in the
office. 78 is for related but states in the OR/Procedure room. 79 is for unrelated. Thinking I should just go with
78 TIA

Per Medicare minor post-op complications that can be taken care of in the office are not be separately billable.

CPT's definition of surgery package a lot less strict.

If you think it is billable...use the -78. It's definitely realted.
