I am fairly new to coding...bear with me. I have a complicated patient that was seen for a hospital followup. The patient has a history of PVD. She was seen by her vascular surgeon, who did a peripheral angiography. During the procedure, the patient became tachycardic and was transported via ambulance to the ER. In the ER CT was done and found retroperitoneal hematoma. This was corrected and fem-pop bypass was done. The patient now presents to our office for a HFU for same. My question is this: Is the PVD primary dx? I don't feel I should be coding the hematoma....or should I code it since the HFU was for that? Hoping someone can guide me here! Thanks a bunch.
