I have a resident who admitted with upper GI bleed due to duodenal bulb ulcer; status post embolization of GDA... we are doing the aftercare... but there is no status post embolization of GDA... and there is no status post GI bleed... how would you code this?
 
you just use a V code for either surgical aftercare or surgical followup. Aftercare is when you are still actively managing the patient, and follow up is a surveliance of the patient to check that all is well.
