Physician performs a semi-hemilaminectomy not a laminectomy to treat stenosis We are coding 63047 for this procedure.
Carriers are denying this code after review of records because op report is stating that physician is performing a hemilaminectomy and not a laminectomy. The carriers are pretty much stating that a hemi is a hemi regardless of dx. Even though 63047 is primarily used for a dx of stenosis and 63030 is primarily used for a dx of herniated disc. I don't agree with their decision. Isn't CPT 63030 for a discectomy?Help
