I have an encounter for placement of IVC filter with a dx of "high risk of pulmonary embolism". Pt is s/p gastric bypass with complications which carries the complication dx of 9974, however, is there a more specific code? Surgeon used high risk for pulmonary embolism.

What about V07.8 ( Other specified prophylactic measure) You could also add the V45.86 ( Bariatric surgery status ) or your 997.4
