Morning!
I have a chart of a patient that has a history of traumatic leg amputation at the HIP (total leg) and then successful reattachment.
I've not quite seen this before!
I'm not sure if I need to code a v code for the amputation, I don't see any reattachment codes, or since it's reattached I just should use V45.89?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thx.

I think no need to give any amputation status code since the amputated site reattached. And if you want to show the surgical status you can add V45.89...

you would not use an amputation status since there is no current amputation , technically there was no amputation since the limb was reattached. You cannot use V45.89 as a 1st listed dx code. My question is what is the reason for the encounter. If this is a follow up visit and there are no issues then use the V67.- code for follow up.
