Hello,
I want to confirm the correct cpt code for a patient having a 24 hour holter (93224) monitor and a 30 day monitor (93268) ? Are these the correct cpt's. Please let me know the split cpt's for a patient having Medicare or commercial insurance such as BCBS, UHC etc.

The provider is with a provider based practice.

Thank you,

Deanna Williams, CPC:)

Hi Deanna,

Does the provider own the equipment for the holter monitoring? If so, and his office is doing the hook-up, report and interpretation then 93224 is correct for the 24 hr holter monitor.

I ask the same for the event monitor... and do you know what type of monitor it is and does a company like Cardionet or Lifewatch do the downloads? That will make different codes if that is the case.
