If a provider completes a Home Health Cert/Recert and bills Medicare for the service what is the POS that should be listed on the claim? There is no face to face service for this but the patient is home and provider is reviewing documentation in the office.

Any help would be appreciated.

We bill POS office where the physician signs the cert. For initial certifications, we only bill when they document a face-to-face encounter. The face-to-face is required by Medicare.

Our patients are not generally seen at the patients home by the physician but all have seen the provider within the 30 day period that Medicare requires for a certification. That being said, I agree with the POS being the office for the cert. I am not sure why the decision was made by some to use the patient home. Just wanted to double check. Thank you so much for all your input.
