Our office is independent from our local hospital but our physicians do rounds there. I know that hospital and office billing are completely different. The hospital is required to follow interqual data in order to determine if the patient meets criteria to be in the hospital. If the patient does not meet requirements then the hospital does not get paid for those dates.
My question is as a physicians office how do we handle this? Can we still bill for our physicians visits on the dates patient does not meet criteria to be in the hospital?
