I am new to hospital coding and need help on a few items.
-if a patient was admitted to observation for 2 days then on the 3rd day was admitted as inpatient then discharged would I use a code from 99234-99236?
-also if a physician other than the admitting physician sees the patient for a subsequent visit for either observation or inpatient admission do I need a code from 99224-99226 or 99231-99233? Or since it it not the admitting physician do I use an code from 99201-99215? Any help would be appreciated!
