If a patient presents to the ER and the doctor performs surgery on her (she has never been seen as a patient in his office before), when she schedules a follow up appointment with his office, is she considered a new patient?
Also, if a resident does a consult in the hospital and our Dr. is the supervising doctor, is the patient a new patient when she follows up with the doctor in our office?
Thanks for the help!
