I have a provider that sees patients via telehealth (my patient is in hospital and provider is off site) and sometimes the patient is asleep or in a room where the provider "sees" them through the window but is not actually having any interaction with them. I feel like the guidelines for telehealth would say there has to be interaction with the patient to qualify for a telehealth visit. Does anyone have any support for the patient being awake during their visit or for there to be verbal interaction. You could evaluate a heart patient when they are asleep via monitors etc, but it seems it would be hard to evaluate someone's mental status when they are asleep. Help.
