Hello! I'm newly-certified (CPC), searching for an entry-level position. Almost every job listing I find requires several years of coding experience. Can anyone suggest how to jump into the world of coding? I'm becoming frustrated :)

Thanks!

I am 2 years in and have yet to find a coding job. Best advice I received was to get your foot in the door in a medical facility working in the Admin/Billing department and work your way up to build experience. I have been working in the billing department for a facility, and it has taught me a lot as you learn about codes and insurance policies as well. Most places you are going to find want the "A" off your CPC in order to hire you which would equal two years of experience roughly. I have had atleast 20 coding interviews that all say the same thing mainly or they go with someone who was already "internally hired" with their organization which is why i say get your foot in the door. You have a better chance landing a coding role if you already within the company itself. I have found that it is very rare for a coder to be hired these days with no experience or minimal. Best of luck.

You should network with your local chapter. Judge group hire assist coders with no experience. (HCC) Look for them on LinkedIn.

CPC-A since 2023 still no Medical Coding Job, I've tried suggested to me but nothing has come through yet, I had one interview with ortho, but they didn't hire me because of my lack of on the job experience, but I can code any cases if only given a chance, and my local chapter here in Dallas never answers or returns my calls.
