Hello, my provider/s want to bill for telephone consults 99442. I billed with POS 11 to BCBS. I have tried modifier GT but am still getting denials. BCBS, of course, is not informative on how to correctly bill these claims. Has anyone had experience in billing this code so I can get payment for my providers please?
 
Every carrier sets their own policy regarding coverage for, and billing of telehealth and telephone.
Some carriers have stated they will follow whatever the Medicare guidelines are. Other carriers use a different policy. My local BCBS policy in NY could be very different than your BCBS policy for Oregon. My initial guess would be the issue is -GT on telephone visit.
