16 yr old patient. Referred to hospital for echo - family history of sudden cardiac death, check for LVH.

Results :

Physiologic mitral and tricuspid regurgitation. no significant valvular pathology.

I feel i cannot code I34.0 and I36.1 because it says there no valvular pathology.

What code can i use?

Thanks !

It says no "significant" valvular pathology but since there is regurgitation there is some kind of dysfunction going on. Both would be coded as nonrheumatic regurgitation to show the pathophysiology that is present. The significant is ambiguous and could be worded a little better or not mentioned at all.

I would recommend only coding for the indication of screening.
Physiologic is something that is normal, that is due neither to anything pathological nor significant in terms of causing illness.
