What would be the appropriate CPT code for Death on arrival claims in ED? Provider has only pronunced dead no other interventions performed

Hi AaranyaK
Well if pt. found dead then brought in ERM...dx is R99 and use lowest EMR CPT code. Later sure autopsy be done. However if life saving measures usedthe reason pt. died, use this definitive dx examples heart attack, drug over dose, gun shot wound from the ER doctor's documentation. Remember Monitor, Evaluate, Assessed and Treat (MEAT) used by ER provider then patient died? See CPT codes for ER treatments which fits notations
I hope this data helped you
