TECHNETIUM 99M SESTAMIBI INJECTION ONLY:INDICATION: Scheduled parathyroidectomy.
IMPRESSION:
2.1 mCi of Tc 99m sestamibi was intravenously given to the patient. No images were taken. The patient was sent to the surgical suite for surgery.
I coded this as 78808 for the radiologist, but the hospital has billed it as a sentinel node under code 38792. The service was performed as outpatient. Medicare has twice denied this code, first for not having the modifier 26 (understandable) and now because of POS. I cannot find any local LCD or even an NCD for this code.
Any help would be appreciated.
