I would like to use "Acute" as a Timing and "Chronic" as Duration in HPI. Is any one kindly help me to clear about this??

HPI elements are recorded in the patients own words, I probably could not give a provider credit for these as you have stated as they aren't specific enough and very few patients are going to use that verbiage. Only a provider can interpret a condition as Acute and Chronic.

Timing has to do with how frequently the symptoms occur, comes and goes, intermittent, in the morning, after I eat type of scenarios. If anything Acute could possibly be interpreted as severity if anything.

Duration needs to be specific to how long they have had the symptoms, days, hours, months. Chronic is not specific enough in my view.

This is only my interpretation of the guidelines, I am open to reading other's opinions.
