Wiki Hydration versus Therapeutic Infusion

If a patient receives an IV infusion of Magnesium Sulfate (2 grams) for a diagnosis of Hypomagnesemia, would this be considered hydration because magnesium sulfate is an electrolyte or would it be therapeutic as it is being administered to treat Hypomagnesemia?
