Hi,

Can we consider Hypertension and Unspecified Renal failure(586) as Hypertensive kidney disease?

Please help me through this.

no several years ago this was fine tuned to be only those kidney diseases coded to 585.x are combined with the hypertentension for a 403.xx code.
 
renal failure and benign essential hypertension

Hi I had the following scenario in my class,
Benign essential hypertension and renal failure.
My classmate coded 40310 and 585.3, I thought she might be incorrect from reading the post in here.
So does this mean that it should be coded 401.1 and 585.9?
