Hello,

Our patient was prepped for a cataract procedure. An incision was made. But an immediate iris prolapse occurred, as well as hyphema. The prolapsed iris was replaced using a BSS cannula. The cataract extraction did not take place. Anterior chamber washout of the hyphema was performed.

Would the cataract procedure that was intended and started, be coded as 66984 with mod 53?

Or does this only code as 65930 - removal of blood clot, anterior segment?

Thank you for your help!
