Provider performed planned hysteroscopy D&C (58558) with frozen section to confirm benign uterine lining followed by planned TLH/BSO (58571). Is they hysteroscopy D&C billable?

Based on NCCI edits these codes are bundled but a modifier is allowed. If documentation supports the scenario above, Modifier 58 can be used for a staged procedure. Payers may or may not follow NCCI and may deny the unbundling of the procedures.

Hello, amycastellano!

If a laparoscopy is performed in conjunction with a diagnostic hysteroscopy , report the appropriate laparoscopy code in addition to the hysteroscopy code. You can bill them together as they are two separate procedures thru different access points. The only time you would not code 58558 is when another hysteroscopic procedure was also done.
