Wiki I was looking at cpt 37215 or 37236. AI confused me.

DX: I65.23 Dr. Placed stent in Left CCA, distal embolic protection was placed, Neuroguard IEP device was deployed. In short from the CPT book, description for 37236 intravascular stents (except lower extremities). AI says 37236 is for lower extremity stent. I chose to code 37215 because of the embolic protection device.
Isn't AI incorrect on the description "FOR LOWER EXTREMITIES" ?

Code 37236 for the stent placement.
Consider reporting G0278 (or an appropriate code for the embolic protection device) only if:

• The payer allows it.
• There's clear documentation of distinct work related to embolic protection.
• It’s not considered inherent to the stent placement per the payer

37215 is for a Carotid Stent Placement w/ embolic protection device. Code includes catheter placement and imaging.
