I know that I should know this, but...

A patient comes to the office in their global period after a Total Hip.
He sees the partner of the operative surgeon because he may have had excessive effusion from the incision site.
Patient is seen - no effusion.
I was going to code for 1) postprocedural aftercare 2) presence of joint implant and 3) hip arthritis

Am I on the right track?

Thank You!

You do not code the arthritis. you have stated the hip was replaced which means there is an artificial joint in place, which cannot have arthritis. code the post op following joint replacement and the joint replacement status.
