Our office has instructions when a patient is coming in for annual testing for being on Plaquenil that we code:
Z79.899, Z09, and the disease
These instructions are dated 2019 and I am questioning the Z09 since this is for "completed treatment".
If the patient still has say Lupus, and is taking Plaquenil, how would you code it? Z79.899 and the appropriate Lupus code, or would you put Z09 in there?
In reading the ICD 10 description of Z09 it seems to me you would not use this unless the patient no longer had Lupus. Am I reading correctly?
