I'm confused and looking for help. Pt seen by doc on ICU floor day one for SDH, contusion to chest and fall. I'm coding the fall for the initial visit however I'm confused by the fall code the next day as a subsequent visit. The physician sees the patient on day 2 as critical care services for the SDH and contusion but should I be coding the fall again for the next day even as a subsequent visit? It seems odd to keep the fall code on there beyond the first visit. The patient didn't fall again on day two, three, four...

I hope I didn't confuse you all with my question :o I just always thought you code the fall only once but if that's the case, why and when would I ever use subsequent????

Thank you!
Lynn
