Please clarify-if a child who is known to have past abnormal findings (acne, asthma, etc) is coming in for a PE-do I code Z00.121 because she will also have those same findings, or do I only use Z00.121 for NEW abnormal findings even though she still has acne and asthma? Is there a good resource to better understand this?

A chronic condition is not an abnormal finding. If the payient presents symptomatic then you will need to defer the annual come Oct 1 as the code states "without complaint". If the patient presents for the annual with no obvious distress and no complaints then it is an annual, if the provider discovers an abnormality not previously known or an issue with a chronic problem that the payient was unaware of then it is an annual with an abnormal finding.
