According to the 2013 I-10 code book, Allergic rhinitis in a patient with asthma would code to J45.909 (Unspecified asthma, uncomplicated). Would it not be more specific and correct to code the allergic rhinitis, such as J30.1 to pollen and then the asthma J45.30 Mild persistent asthma, uncomplicated?

It isn't stated the patient has allergic rhinitis due to pollen. J45.909 would be correct.
