I need some help with the code 33249 same day as the 33225. I am finding confusing information. I need to know what modifier should be used when you charge for both codes the same date. Some info I came accross said QR, one said Q0, and one stated to change SI to N and now I am so confused on which one I should be using. Please Help:mad::confused:

Add on code 33225 is not subject to multiple procedure rules. No reimbursement reduction or modifier 51 is applied. It's addition inta-service work asociated with the primary procedure. They ae performed by the same procedure physician on the same date of service as the primary service / procedure. No modifier needed. Hope this helps

If the ICD is being implanted for primary prevention you will need to append a Q0, that is a zero not an o to the 33249 but the 33225 is an add on code by definition and doesn't require a modifier.
