If a more specific diagnosis is found on a prior office visit, can it be billed?
For example, sleep related-leg cramps is listed on a January office note, but I'm working on Feb 16 of this year, and leg cramps only is documented.
If I look up a prior note and it says "sleep related leg cramps" can I bill this since it's the more specific dx?
(I know the note being billed must stand alone, but on the other hand, I thought that if the final dx is known at the time of billing, it can be coded)
thank you
