I have a physician who dictated an IJ Temporary Hemodialysis Cath placed (Seldinger technique) but he states that he ordered a chest x-ray and reviewed it himself. Would I code for a chest x-ray or the 77001.

I know the 77001 is for fluoro but I've never coded a cath placement with a chest x-ray ordered and reviewed by the same physician.

Thank you in advance!

If he used the xray to check placement instead of fluoro, I would code it. You will need a -59 for Medicare. If he used fluoro and did a chest xray, I would not code it.
